Sparky was the first Norwich Terrier to come into our
lives and quickly took over our hearts and our time. He finished his AKC
Championship at the age of fourteen months with four majors and a
total of 15 points under six judges.
We joined the Huntsville Obedience Training Club
and found out there is so much to do with dogs that we had never even heard
about. So, we attended a beginning obedience class. After that, we
attempted the Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) and passed on the
first try.
Freestyle Dance was the next discipline that we tried
and Sparky loved
every minute of it. He received his first leg toward a title in 2006 and
took his beginning title Freestyle Dog – Musical Freestyle (FD/MF) in
September of 2007. He is now preparing for the Novice Musical Freestyle
Title. Our freestyle group, "HOTC Dancing Dogs", performs all
over North Alabama. Sparky is in a duet with Colby who is a
Schnoodle
(Schnauzer - Poodle cross). They will
be competing this year for their first leg in the pairs title.
Sparky has also competed in AKC Rally and received
his Rally Novice and Rally Advanced Titles. He earned his Rally Excellent
Title on 2/6/09 in Decatur, AL with a first place in his group.
Sparky finished a fantastic weekend at the Decatur
Alabama Kennel Club by earning his first obedience title - Companion Dog
(CD) on 2/7/09 with a first place in the group and high score for
Terriers.
Sparky is a pet therapy dog and visits two nursing
homes every month where he performs his Freestyle Dance and passes out
lots of love an attention to those who need it most.
